Description

A quick and versatile vanilla icing perfect for drizzling over cakes, cookies, or scones. It adds a sweet, smooth finish without overpowering baked goods.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar (sifted)
  • 12 tbsp milk (adjust for desired consistency)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt (optional, to balance sweetness)

Instructions

  1. Sift the confectioners’ sugar into a medium bowl to remove lumps.
  2. Add milk one tablespoon at a time, stirring constantly until desired consistency is reached.
  3. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. If desired, add a pinch of salt to balance the sweetness.
  5. Adjust thickness by adding more sugar to thicken or more milk to thin.
  6. Use immediately or store tightly covered for later use.

Notes

  • For a richer glaze, use heavy cream instead of milk.
  • Add melted butter for shine and flavor.
  • Customize with almond or lemon extract, or food coloring for decoration.
