- 3/4 cup unsalted butter (melted and slightly cooled)
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips or chunks
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and creamy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cornstarch, and salt.
- Gradually mix dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips or chunks evenly.
- Scoop large portions of dough, roll into balls, and place on prepared baking sheets spaced apart.
- Chill dough balls on baking sheet in fridge for 15-20 minutes for thicker cookies.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden and centers look slightly underbaked.
- Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- Add nuts like walnuts or pecans for crunch.
- Use a mix of chocolates for variety.
- Top with flaky sea salt before baking for a sweet-salty contrast.
- Try browning the butter for a richer flavor.
