Description

A healthier twist on the classic comfort food, this Turkey Meatloaf is tender, flavorful, and topped with a tangy glaze—perfect for weeknight dinners or meal prep.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground turkey (preferably 93% lean)
  • 3/4 cup bread crumbs (preferably whole wheat)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté chopped onion and garlic until softened. Let cool slightly.
  3. In a large bowl, mix ground turkey, bread crumbs, sautéed onion and garlic, egg, milk, Worcestershire sauce, parsley, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper until just combined.
  4. Transfer mixture to the prepared loaf pan and shape it gently.
  5. In a small bowl, mix ketchup, tomato paste, and Dijon mustard. Spread evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
  6. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  7. Let meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use ground chicken or a beef-turkey blend for a different flavor profile.
  • Add finely chopped vegetables like bell peppers or zucchini for extra nutrition.
  • Top with shredded cheese in the last 10 minutes for a cheesy crust.
  • Use barbecue sauce instead of ketchup for a smokier flavor.
