- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup hot water
- 1/2 cup chopped dark chocolate
- 1/2 cup chopped milk chocolate
- 1/2 cup chopped white chocolate
- 1 cup pitted and halved cherries (fresh or canned, drained)
- Extra cherries and chocolate shavings for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
- Mix in the sour cream until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until smooth.
- Stir in hot water slowly until the batter is well combined.
- Fold in chopped dark, milk, and white chocolate, followed by the cherries.
- Pour batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Garnish with extra cherries and chocolate shavings if desired before serving.

- You can substitute frozen cherries if fresh aren’t available—just thaw and drain well.
