Description

A rich and decadent Triple Chocolate Cherry Cake featuring layers of moist chocolate cake, studded with cherries, and topped with luscious chocolate ganache.


Ingredients

  • 1 box (15.25 oz) chocolate cake mix
  • 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (for ganache)
  • 1/2 cup chopped maraschino cherries (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the chocolate cake mix, cherry pie filling, eggs, and almond extract until well combined.
  3. Stir in semisweet, milk, and dark chocolate chips.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Let the cake cool completely in the pan.
  7. To make the ganache, heat the heavy cream until just boiling, then pour over 1/2 cup chocolate chips and stir until smooth.
  8. Pour the ganache over the cooled cake and spread evenly.
  9. Top with chopped maraschino cherries if desired.
  10. Chill for 15 minutes to set ganache before serving.

Notes

  • Use dark cherry pie filling for a deeper flavor.
  • Add a splash of cherry liqueur for an adult version.
