- 4 bolillo rolls (or crusty sandwich rolls)
- 8 slices deli ham (or more, to taste)
- 4 slices of cheese (like Oaxaca, mozzarella, or American)
- 1 avocado, sliced
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 1/2 small onion, thinly sliced
- Pickled jalapeños, to taste
- Mayonnaise, to taste
- Butter, for toasting
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Slice bolillo rolls in half lengthwise. Lightly butter the cut sides and toast on a skillet or griddle until golden.
- Spread mayonnaise on the toasted sides of the bread.
- Layer the bottom half with ham and cheese. Heat briefly on a skillet or in the microwave until the cheese melts slightly.
- Top with sliced avocado, tomato, onion, and pickled jalapeños.
- Season with a pinch of salt and pepper if desired.
- Cover with the top half of the bread, press lightly, and serve warm.
