Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup (90g) chocolate chips (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line an 8×8-inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
  3. Beat in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until fully combined.
  4. Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  5. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  7. Allow to cool before cutting into squares and serving.
