Description

Thai Beef Salad is a refreshing, tangy, and spicy dish made with thinly sliced grilled beef tossed with fresh vegetables and herbs, all brought together with a zesty lime-based dressing.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) beef sirloin or flank steak
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 4 cups mixed salad greens
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cucumber, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves
  • 2 tablespoons chopped roasted peanuts (optional)
  • Dressing:
  • 3 tablespoons lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 red chili, finely chopped (adjust to taste)

Instructions

  1. Season the beef with salt and pepper. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet or grill pan over high heat.
  2. Cook the beef for 3–4 minutes per side or until desired doneness. Let it rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together lime juice, fish sauce, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, and chili to make the dressing.
  4. In a large bowl, combine salad greens, cherry tomatoes, red onion, cucumber, cilantro, and mint.
  5. Add the sliced beef to the salad and pour the dressing over. Toss gently to combine.
  6. Top with chopped peanuts if using, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use grilled chicken or tofu for a different protein option.
  • Chill the salad ingredients for extra crunch and freshness.
  • Adjust chili quantity based on spice tolerance.
