Description

Texas Firecrackers are spicy, zesty, and totally addictive! These no-bake crackers are soaked in a flavorful blend of oil, ranch seasoning, red pepper flakes, and other spices, giving them a bold kick and a satisfying crunch. They’re great for snacking, road trips, or as an easy appetizer for any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 1 (16 oz) box saltine crackers (about 4 sleeves)

  • 1 1/2 cups canola oil (or vegetable oil)

  • 1 (1 oz) packet ranch dressing mix

  • 1 1/2 tablespoons crushed red pepper flakes

  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional, for color and flavor)

Instructions

  1. Place the saltine crackers in a large, sealable plastic bag or container with a lid.

  2. In a bowl or measuring cup, whisk together the oil, ranch dressing mix, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika until well combined.

  3. Pour the seasoned oil mixture evenly over the crackers.

  4. Seal the bag or container and gently turn it over several times to coat all the crackers.

  5. Let the crackers sit at room temperature for at least 4 hours or overnight, turning the bag occasionally to redistribute the oil and spices.

  6. Once the crackers have absorbed the flavor and are dry to the touch, they’re ready to enjoy!

Notes

  • For even more heat, add a dash of cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the oil mixture.

  • These store well in an airtight container for up to a week.

  • You can use mini saltines or oyster crackers as a variation.
