Texas Firecrackers are spicy, zesty, and totally addictive! These no-bake crackers are soaked in a flavorful blend of oil, ranch seasoning, red pepper flakes, and other spices, giving them a bold kick and a satisfying crunch. They’re great for snacking, road trips, or as an easy appetizer for any gathering.
Ingredients
-
1 (16 oz) box saltine crackers (about 4 sleeves)
-
1 1/2 cups canola oil (or vegetable oil)
-
1 (1 oz) packet ranch dressing mix
-
1 1/2 tablespoons crushed red pepper flakes
-
1 tablespoon garlic powder
-
1 teaspoon onion powder
-
1 teaspoon paprika (optional, for color and flavor)
Instructions
-
Place the saltine crackers in a large, sealable plastic bag or container with a lid.
-
In a bowl or measuring cup, whisk together the oil, ranch dressing mix, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika until well combined.
-
Pour the seasoned oil mixture evenly over the crackers.
-
Seal the bag or container and gently turn it over several times to coat all the crackers.
-
Let the crackers sit at room temperature for at least 4 hours or overnight, turning the bag occasionally to redistribute the oil and spices.
-
Once the crackers have absorbed the flavor and are dry to the touch, they’re ready to enjoy!
Notes
-
For even more heat, add a dash of cayenne pepper or hot sauce to the oil mixture.
-
These store well in an airtight container for up to a week.
-
You can use mini saltines or oyster crackers as a variation.
