- 4 cups sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 3 cups apples, peeled and sliced (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
- 1/2 cup mini marshmallows (optional topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, toss sweet potatoes and apples with melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove foil, stir gently, and sprinkle with pecans if using. Bake uncovered for an additional 15–20 minutes, or until sweet potatoes are tender.
- If using marshmallows, sprinkle them over the top during the last 5 minutes of baking and broil briefly for a golden top.
- Let cool slightly before serving warm.
Notes
- Choose tart apples for the best contrast in flavor.
- Can be made a day in advance and reheated.
- Skip marshmallows for a less sweet version.
- Add a splash of orange juice or maple syrup for extra depth.
