Description

Sweet and Spicy Honey Chicken is a deliciously balanced dish combining the rich sweetness of honey with a fiery kick from chili, making it perfect for dinner or a special occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha or chili garlic sauce
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional for extra heat)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped green onions and sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken pieces with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken and cook until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, sriracha, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Pour the sauce over the cooked chicken in the skillet. Stir well to coat evenly.
  5. In another small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry. Add it to the skillet and stir until the sauce thickens, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
  7. Serve hot over steamed rice or with stir-fried vegetables.

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of sriracha or chili flakes based on your spice preference.
  • You can substitute chicken with tofu for a vegetarian version.
  • This dish can be made ahead and reheated for meal prep.
