Description

A luxurious and interactive appetizer combining creamy butter with seared steak and succulent seafood, beautifully garnished and served with toasted bread or crackers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 8 oz sirloin steak or filet mignon
  • 8 oz shrimp (shelled and deveined) or 2 lobster tails
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 fresh lemon (juice and zest)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh chives, chopped
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp chili flakes, plus more for garnish
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Toasted baguette slices or crackers, for serving

Instructions

  1. Bring the butter to room temperature to soften.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season steak with salt and pepper and sear to desired doneness. Let rest and slice thinly.
  3. In the same skillet, add garlic and cook briefly, then add shrimp or lobster with lemon juice and a pinch of chili flakes. Cook until just done and remove from heat.
  4. Spread softened butter evenly on a wooden board or platter.
  5. Sprinkle the butter with smoked paprika, chopped parsley, chives, and a light pinch of salt.
  6. Arrange sliced steak and seafood over the butter.
  7. Garnish with lemon zest, extra chili flakes, and additional herbs.
  8. Serve immediately with toasted baguette slices or crackers.

Notes

  • Use compound butter with roasted garlic or herbs for added depth of flavor.
  • Swap the steak with grilled chicken or duck for variation.
  • Blue cheese or shaved parmesan adds richness.
  • Roasted cherry tomatoes or pickled onions provide a tangy contrast.
  • Try Cajun or Asian marinades for the seafood for a global twist.
