Description

A sweet and crunchy treat, Strawberry Popcorn combines freshly popped corn with a fruity strawberry coating for a delicious snack perfect for parties or movie nights.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 10 cups popped popcorn
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 (3 oz) package strawberry gelatin (Jell-O)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Place the popped popcorn in a large mixing bowl, removing any unpopped kernels.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, corn syrup, butter, and salt. Stir constantly until the mixture comes to a boil.
  4. Once boiling, add the strawberry gelatin and stir until completely dissolved. Continue boiling for another 2-3 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Quickly pour the strawberry mixture over the popcorn and toss to coat evenly.
  7. Spread the coated popcorn onto the prepared baking sheet in an even layer.
  8. Bake for 10 minutes, stir, and bake for another 10 minutes to set the coating.
  9. Remove from the oven and let cool completely. Break into pieces before serving.

Notes

  • You can add a few drops of red or pink food coloring for a more vibrant color.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
  • Try using other flavored gelatin for different variations.
