- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef (preferably 80/20 blend)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 4 burger buns
- 2 tablespoons butter (for toasting buns)
- Lettuce leaves
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 1 small onion, sliced
- Pickle slices
- Condiments of choice (ketchup, mustard, mayo)
Instructions
- Preheat a grill or large skillet over medium-high heat.
- In a large bowl, gently mix the ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Do not overmix.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape into thick patties with a small indentation in the center of each.
- Grill or sear the patties for 4–5 minutes per side or until desired doneness. Add cheddar slices during the last minute to melt.
- While burgers cook, lightly butter the buns and toast until golden brown.
- Assemble the burgers with lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and condiments.
- Serve hot and enjoy.
