-
1 garlic clove, minced
-
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (optional)
-
1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (slurry, for thickening)
Instructions
-
Press tofu for at least 15 minutes to remove excess moisture. Cut into cubes.
-
Toss tofu cubes with soy sauce and cornstarch until evenly coated.
-
Heat sesame oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
-
Add tofu and cook for 3–4 minutes on each side, until golden and crispy. Remove and set aside.
-
In the same pan, add garlic and ginger, and sauté for 30 seconds.
-
Stir in soy sauce, sriracha, hoisin sauce, vinegar, and maple syrup. Simmer for 2 minutes.
-
Add the cornstarch slurry and stir until the sauce thickens.
-
Return tofu to the pan and toss to coat evenly in the sauce.
-
Serve hot over rice or noodles, topped with green onions or sesame seeds if desired.
Notes
-
For extra crispiness, bake or air fry the tofu before tossing it in the sauce.
-
Make it gluten-free by using tamari instead of soy sauce.
-
Adjust spice level by adding more or less sriracha.
