- 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts (or pork shoulder)
- 1 cup Hawaiian BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/2 cup crushed pineapple with juice
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 onion, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- Salt to taste
Instructions
- Place the chicken or pork in the slow cooker.
- In a bowl, mix BBQ sauce, crushed pineapple, brown sugar, onion, soy sauce, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt.
- Pour the mixture over the meat in the slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4-5 hours.
- Once cooked, shred the meat using two forks.
- Stir the shredded meat in the sauce and let it cook for another 15-20 minutes to absorb flavors.
- Serve warm on buns, sliders, or over rice.
Notes
- You can substitute chicken with pork shoulder or beef chuck.
- Adjust sweetness by reducing or increasing brown sugar or pineapple juice.
