Description

A sweet and tangy Hawaiian BBQ pulled meat recipe made effortlessly in the slow cooker. Perfect for sandwiches, sliders, or served over rice.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts (or pork shoulder)
  • 1 cup Hawaiian BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup crushed pineapple with juice
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken or pork in the slow cooker.
  2. In a bowl, mix BBQ sauce, crushed pineapple, brown sugar, onion, soy sauce, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt.
  3. Pour the mixture over the meat in the slow cooker.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4-5 hours.
  5. Once cooked, shred the meat using two forks.
  6. Stir the shredded meat in the sauce and let it cook for another 15-20 minutes to absorb flavors.
  7. Serve warm on buns, sliders, or over rice.

Notes

  • You can substitute chicken with pork shoulder or beef chuck.
  • Adjust sweetness by reducing or increasing brown sugar or pineapple juice.
  • Leftovers store well in the fridge for up to 4 days or freeze for longer storage.
