Fall-off-the-bone beef short ribs slow-baked in a smoky BBQ sauce for tender, flavorful results—no grill required.

- 3 to 4 lbs beef short ribs
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 to 1 1/2 cups your favorite BBQ sauce
- 1/4 cup water or beef broth
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C). Line a large baking dish with foil.
- Pat the short ribs dry and rub with olive oil.
- Season ribs with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and brown sugar.
- Arrange the ribs in a single layer in the baking dish.
- In a bowl, mix BBQ sauce with apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and water or broth.
- Pour sauce mixture over ribs, coating them thoroughly.
- Cover tightly with foil and bake for 3 to 3.5 hours, or until fork-tender.
- Remove foil, brush ribs with additional BBQ sauce, and bake uncovered for 20–30 minutes.
- Optional: Broil for 2–3 minutes for added char.
Notes
- Boneless short ribs can be used for easier serving.
- Add bourbon to the sauce for deeper flavor.
- Use different styles of BBQ sauce to suit your taste.
- Add sliced onions or bell peppers to the pan for added depth.
