Description

Shrimp tacos are a flavorful, quick-to-make meal featuring seasoned shrimp, fresh slaw, and creamy sauce all wrapped in warm tortillas. Perfect for weeknights or entertaining.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage or slaw mix
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1/4 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss shrimp with olive oil, chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook shrimp for 2–3 minutes per side, or until pink and opaque. Remove from heat.
  3. In a small bowl, mix sour cream, lime juice, and hot sauce (if using) to make the sauce.
  4. Warm tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave until soft and pliable.
  5. Assemble tacos by adding a layer of slaw, cooked shrimp, avocado slices, and a drizzle of the sauce. Top with chopped cilantro.
  6. Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

  • Use pre-cooked shrimp to save time—just season and heat briefly.
  • Customize with toppings like mango salsa, pickled onions, or queso fresco.
  • Grill shrimp for extra smoky flavor.
  • Make it dairy-free by using a vegan yogurt for the sauce.
