Description

Roasted onions are a simple and flavorful side dish, bringing out the natural sweetness and savory notes of onions through caramelization in the oven.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large onions, peeled and halved
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Cut the onions in half and place them cut side up on a baking sheet.
  3. Drizzle the onions with olive oil and sprinkle with salt, pepper, and thyme if using.
  4. Roast in the oven for 35-45 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown and tender.
  5. Remove from oven and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can use any variety of onions such as yellow, red, or sweet onions.
  • Add a splash of balsamic vinegar before roasting for extra depth of flavor.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheated as needed.
