- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter
- 2 1/4 cups (450g) granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (85g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp instant espresso powder (optional, for depth of flavor)
- 1 cup (175g) semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Remove from heat and stir in the sugar until smooth and glossy.
- Let the mixture cool slightly, then whisk in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking powder, and espresso powder.
- Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.
Notes
- For extra fudgy brownies, underbake slightly and chill before cutting.
- The espresso powder enhances the chocolate flavor but can be omitted.
