Description

A refreshing and tangy summer drink made from stewed rhubarb, citrus juices, and lemon-lime soda, perfect for serving at gatherings or as a cool treat on hot days.


Ingredients

  • 8 cups chopped rhubarb
  • 8 cups water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 (6 oz) can frozen orange juice concentrate, thawed
  • 1 (6 oz) can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
  • 2 cups vodka (optional)
  • 2 liters lemon-lime soda (e.g., Sprite or 7-Up), for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, combine chopped rhubarb and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until rhubarb is soft, about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a large bowl or pot, discarding the solids.
  3. While the liquid is still warm, stir in the sugar until dissolved.
  4. Add the orange juice concentrate, lemonade concentrate, and vodka (if using). Mix well.
  5. Pour the mixture into a large freezer-safe container and freeze overnight or until solid.
  6. To serve, scoop desired amount of frozen slush into a glass and top with lemon-lime soda. Stir gently and serve immediately.

  • Adjust sugar based on your desired sweetness level.
  • Vodka can be omitted for a non-alcoholic version.
  • Store slush in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 3 months.
