Description

Red White & Blue Marble Cake is a patriotic dessert featuring vibrant swirls of red, white, and blue vanilla cake—perfect for 4th of July celebrations and festive gatherings.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • Red food coloring
  • Blue food coloring
  • Powdered sugar or frosting for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan or two 8-inch round pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients, alternating with milk, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly into three bowls. Leave one bowl plain (white), color one red, and the other blue using food coloring.
  7. Spoon dollops of each color into the prepared pan, alternating colors randomly.
  8. Use a butter knife to gently swirl the colors together for a marbled effect.
  9. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  10. Cool completely before frosting or dusting with powdered sugar, if desired.

Notes

  • Do not overmix when swirling to preserve the marble effect.
  • Can be topped with whipped cream and berries for extra flair.
  • Use gel food coloring for more vibrant colors without thinning the batter.
