- 1 box (3 oz) strawberry or cherry Jell-O
- 1 box (3 oz) berry blue Jell-O
- 1 envelope unflavored gelatin
- 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1.5 cups vodka, divided
- 3 cups boiling water, divided
- 1.5 cups cold water, divided
- Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
- Sprinkles or small American flag picks (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Prepare the red layer: In a bowl, mix the red Jell-O with 1 cup boiling water. Stir until completely dissolved. Add 1/2 cup cold water and 1/2 cup vodka. Mix well and pour into shot cups, filling each about one-third. Refrigerate for 1 hour or until set.
- Prepare the white layer: Sprinkle unflavored gelatin over 1/2 cup cold water in a bowl. Let it bloom for 5 minutes. Add 1/2 cup boiling water and stir until dissolved. Mix in the sweetened condensed milk and let cool to room temperature. Pour over the set red layer, filling the cups another third. Refrigerate for 1 hour or until set.
- Prepare the blue layer: In a bowl, mix the blue Jell-O with 1 cup boiling water. Stir until dissolved. Add 1/2 cup cold water and 1/2 cup vodka. Mix well and pour over the white layer. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until completely set.
- Top with whipped cream and sprinkles or flag picks if desired before serving.
Notes
- Use clear plastic shot glasses for the best visual effect.
- Chill each layer completely before adding the next to prevent colors from mixing.
- For a non-alcoholic version, replace vodka with cold water.
