Description

Festive and colorful Red, White, and Blue Rice Krispies Treats perfect for patriotic holidays like the 4th of July, made with classic ingredients and layered with vibrant food coloring.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 6 cups mini marshmallows, divided
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided
  • Red food coloring
  • Blue food coloring
  • Non-stick cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray and set aside.
  2. In a large pot, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over low heat. Add 2 cups of marshmallows and stir until melted. Add red food coloring to achieve desired color.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in 2 cups of Rice Krispies cereal until evenly coated. Press mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared dish.
  4. Repeat the process for the white layer: melt 2 tablespoons of butter, add 2 cups of marshmallows, stir until melted, then mix in 2 cups of cereal. Spread this layer evenly over the red layer.
  5. Repeat once more for the blue layer using blue food coloring. Spread on top of the white layer.
  6. Let the treats cool completely, then cut into squares and serve.

Notes

  • Use gel food coloring for more vibrant colors.
  • Press each layer gently to avoid mixing colors.
  • You can use a spatula sprayed with cooking spray to help press layers evenly.
