Description

Festive and colorful Red, White, and Blue Rice Krispie Treats perfect for patriotic holidays like the Fourth of July or Memorial Day.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 (10 oz) bag mini marshmallows
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • Red food coloring
  • Blue food coloring
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips (optional for drizzle)
  • Sprinkles (red, white, and blue, optional)

Instructions

  1. Grease a 9×13 inch pan and set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over low heat. Add 1/3 of the marshmallows and stir until melted. Add red food coloring to achieve desired hue. Mix in 2 cups of Rice Krispies. Press into the prepared pan evenly as the first layer.
  3. Repeat the process for the white layer: melt 1 tablespoon of butter, add 1/3 of marshmallows, melt completely, and stir in 2 cups of cereal. Press gently over the red layer.
  4. Repeat once more for the blue layer using the remaining butter, marshmallows, blue food coloring, and Rice Krispies. Press on top of the white layer.
  5. Let cool completely at room temperature, then slice into squares.
  6. Optional: melt white chocolate chips and drizzle over the top, then add sprinkles for extra decoration.

Notes

  • Use parchment paper to press the layers evenly without sticking.
  • Add more food coloring for more vibrant layers.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
