Description
Soft, chewy Red Velvet Cookies with a rich cocoa flavor, striking red color, and optional white chocolate chips for extra sweetness. Perfect for any special occasion or a sweet treat anytime.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2–3 tbsp red food coloring
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp white vinegar
- 1 cup white chocolate chips or chunks (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract, red food coloring, and white vinegar.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined. Fold in the white chocolate chips if using.
- Scoop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing each cookie about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are set and the centers look slightly soft.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Use cream cheese chips instead of white chocolate for a classic red velvet flavor pairing.
- Sprinkle sea salt on top before baking for a sweet-salty balance.
- Make sandwich cookies with cream cheese frosting for extra indulgence.
- Chill the dough for thicker cookies and more developed flavor.
