Description
A chewy, crunchy bar version of the classic Puppy Chow snack mix, made with cereal, peanut butter, chocolate, and powdered sugar. A kid-friendly, no-bake treat perfect for parties or lunchboxes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 5 cups crispy rice or corn cereal (like Chex)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
Instructions
- Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth.
- Stir in vanilla extract.
- Place cereal in a large mixing bowl. Pour chocolate mixture over cereal and gently stir to coat.
- Transfer mixture to prepared baking dish and press down gently with a spatula.
- Sprinkle powdered sugar over the top and press lightly so it sticks.
- Refrigerate for at least 1 hour or until set.
- Lift bars out using parchment paper and cut into squares.
Notes
- Add mini M&Ms for color and fun.
- Use Nutella instead of peanut butter for a hazelnut twist.
- Sprinkle more powdered sugar before serving for extra sweetness.
- Top with a layer of melted white chocolate for a double chocolate version.
