Description

This pull-apart apple bread is a soft, fluffy, and cinnamon-spiced treat filled with tender apples and topped with a sweet glaze — perfect for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • For the filling:
  • 2 apples, peeled and finely chopped
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • For the glaze:
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tbsp milk
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. In a saucepan, heat milk, butter, and water until warm (not hot), then stir in vanilla.
  3. Pour the wet mixture into the flour mixture and add eggs. Mix until combined.
  4. Gradually add the remaining flour to form a soft dough. Knead for 5–7 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  6. In a small bowl, mix apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  7. Roll the dough out into a rectangle and brush with melted butter. Evenly distribute apple filling over the dough.
  8. Cut dough into strips, stack them, and slice into squares. Stack squares vertically in a greased loaf pan.
  9. Cover and let rise again for 30–45 minutes.
  10. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30–35 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  11. Whisk glaze ingredients together and drizzle over warm bread before serving.

Notes

  • Use firm apples like Granny Smith for best texture.
  • Let the bread cool slightly before glazing to prevent it from melting completely.
  • Great for making ahead — reheat slices briefly in the microwave.
