This pizza grilled cheese sandwich combines everything you love about pizza—gooey mozzarella, savory marinara, and pepperoni—stuffed between crispy, buttery slices of bread. It’s a quick and satisfying meal that’s great for lunch, dinner, or even a late-night snack.
Ingredients
-
4 slices of bread (white, sourdough, or Italian)
-
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
-
1/4 cup marinara or pizza sauce (plus more for dipping)
-
8-10 slices pepperoni (optional)
-
2 tbsp butter, softened
-
1/2 tsp Italian seasoning
-
Optional: sliced olives, sautéed mushrooms, or bell peppers
Instructions
-
Spread marinara sauce on one side of two slices of bread.
-
Top with shredded mozzarella, pepperoni slices, and any optional toppings.
-
Place the remaining bread slices on top to make two sandwiches.
-
Spread butter on the outside of each slice and sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
-
Heat a skillet over medium heat.
-
Grill the sandwiches for 3–4 minutes on each side, until the bread is golden and the cheese is melted.
-
Serve hot with extra marinara on the side for dipping.
Notes
-
For a vegetarian version, skip the pepperoni and add your favorite veggies.
-
Use thick-cut bread for a heartier sandwich.
-
Swap mozzarella for provolone or a pizza blend cheese for variety.
