Description

This Philly Cheesesteak Casserole is a delicious twist on the classic sandwich, featuring all the flavors you love in an easy-to-make, low-carb casserole. Ground beef or thinly sliced steak is combined with bell peppers, onions, and a creamy cheese mixture, then baked to melty perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Casserole:

  • 1 pound ground beef or thinly sliced steak
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 3 large eggs
  • Optional: chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the Vegetables: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bell pepper and onion until softened. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  3. Cook the Meat: Add the ground beef or sliced steak, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned. Drain excess grease.
  4. Make the Creamy Mixture: Stir in cream cheese, sour cream, and Worcestershire sauce until creamy.
  5. Add Eggs: Whisk eggs in a bowl, then add to the skillet mixture. Combine well.
  6. Assemble and Bake: Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish. Top with provolone and cheddar cheese. Bake for 25–30 minutes until set and golden.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Garnish with parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • For a keto version, skip bread or pasta sides and serve with salad or veggies.
  • You can use leftover steak or roast beef for added flavor.
