Description

A hearty and flavorful one-pan Philly Cheese Beef Skillet made with ground beef, bell peppers, onions, and melted provolone cheese for a quick and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 1/4 cup beef broth (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add sliced onions and bell peppers, cooking until they soften, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another 1 minute.
  4. Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon and cooking until browned and fully cooked, about 7-8 minutes.
  5. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  6. Add Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  7. If the mixture seems dry, stir in beef broth to moisten.
  8. Reduce heat to low and top the beef mixture with provolone cheese slices.
  9. Cover and cook until cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes.
  10. Serve hot straight from the skillet or over hoagie rolls, rice, or pasta if desired.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef to reduce excess grease.
  • Swap provolone for mozzarella or cheddar based on preference.
  • Great for meal prep and reheats well.
