- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 6 slices provolone cheese
- 1/4 cup beef broth (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add sliced onions and bell peppers, cooking until they soften, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for another 1 minute.
- Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spoon and cooking until browned and fully cooked, about 7-8 minutes.
- Drain excess grease if necessary.
- Add Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
- If the mixture seems dry, stir in beef broth to moisten.
- Reduce heat to low and top the beef mixture with provolone cheese slices.
- Cover and cook until cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes.
- Serve hot straight from the skillet or over hoagie rolls, rice, or pasta if desired.
Notes
- Use lean ground beef to reduce excess grease.
- Swap provolone for mozzarella or cheddar based on preference.
