Description

A classic, juicy hamburger recipe that’s easy to make and perfect for grilling season.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 1/2 red onion, sliced
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • Ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise to taste
  • Pickles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. In a bowl, mix ground beef with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Divide into 4 equal portions and form into patties.
  3. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent bulging during cooking.
  4. Place patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for 3–4 minutes per side for medium doneness, or until desired doneness is reached.
  5. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty if using, and toast the hamburger buns on the grill.
  6. Assemble burgers by placing patties on buns and adding desired toppings such as lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and condiments.
  7. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use ground beef with at least 20% fat for the juiciest burgers.
  • Customize toppings to your preference—avocado, bacon, or sautéed mushrooms are great additions.
  • To avoid dry burgers, do not press down on the patties while cooking.
