Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 4 hamburger buns
- 4 slices cheddar cheese (optional)
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 1/2 red onion, sliced
- 4 lettuce leaves
- Ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise to taste
- Pickles (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
- In a bowl, mix ground beef with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Divide into 4 equal portions and form into patties.
- Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent bulging during cooking.
- Place patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for 3–4 minutes per side for medium doneness, or until desired doneness is reached.
- During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty if using, and toast the hamburger buns on the grill.
- Assemble burgers by placing patties on buns and adding desired toppings such as lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and condiments.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- Use ground beef with at least 20% fat for the juiciest burgers.
- Customize toppings to your preference—avocado, bacon, or sautéed mushrooms are great additions.
- To avoid dry burgers, do not press down on the patties while cooking.
