Description

Creamy and fluffy mashed potatoes made effortlessly in the crockpot—perfect for busy holidays or weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 5 pounds russet or Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup milk (more if needed)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Place the peeled and chopped potatoes into the crockpot.
  2. Add the chicken broth, butter, and garlic powder if using.
  3. Cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours or low for 6-7 hours, until potatoes are very tender.
  4. Mash the potatoes directly in the crockpot until smooth.
  5. Add sour cream, milk, salt, and pepper; stir to combine. Add more milk for desired consistency.
  6. Keep warm in the crockpot on the warm setting until ready to serve.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, substitute milk with half-and-half or cream.
  • Adjust seasoning at the end as flavors develop while cooking.
  • Can be made ahead and kept on warm for a few hours before serving.
