- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 4 slices of Swiss cheese
- 4 slices of ham
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
- Toothpicks or kitchen twine
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
- Pound the chicken breasts to an even 1/4-inch thickness using a meat mallet.
- Place one slice of ham and one slice of Swiss cheese on each chicken breast.
- Roll up the chicken breasts tightly and secure with toothpicks or kitchen twine.
- In a shallow dish, mix flour with salt and pepper. In another dish, beat the eggs. In a third dish, combine breadcrumbs with paprika.
- Dredge each chicken roll in flour, then dip in eggs, then coat with breadcrumb mixture.
- Place the breaded chicken in the prepared baking dish and drizzle with olive oil or melted butter.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes or until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
- Let rest for 5 minutes before removing toothpicks and serving.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, you can pan-fry the chicken for 2–3 minutes per side before baking.
- Try using Dijon mustard inside the roll for a flavor boost.
- This dish pairs well with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.
