Description

Perfect Chicken Cordon Bleu is a classic French-inspired dish featuring chicken breasts stuffed with ham and Swiss cheese, then breaded and baked or fried to crispy perfection.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 4 slices of ham
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • Toothpicks or kitchen twine

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Pound the chicken breasts to an even 1/4-inch thickness using a meat mallet.
  3. Place one slice of ham and one slice of Swiss cheese on each chicken breast.
  4. Roll up the chicken breasts tightly and secure with toothpicks or kitchen twine.
  5. In a shallow dish, mix flour with salt and pepper. In another dish, beat the eggs. In a third dish, combine breadcrumbs with paprika.
  6. Dredge each chicken roll in flour, then dip in eggs, then coat with breadcrumb mixture.
  7. Place the breaded chicken in the prepared baking dish and drizzle with olive oil or melted butter.
  8. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  9. Let rest for 5 minutes before removing toothpicks and serving.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can pan-fry the chicken for 2–3 minutes per side before baking.
  • Try using Dijon mustard inside the roll for a flavor boost.
  • This dish pairs well with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables.
