A quick and flavorful Pepper Steak Stir Fry made with tender beef strips, colorful bell peppers, and a savory stir-fry sauce. Perfect for weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooked rice, for serving
Instructions
- In a bowl, toss the sliced steak with soy sauce, cornstarch, and a pinch of pepper. Let marinate for 10-15 minutes.
- In a small bowl, mix together oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and water. Set aside.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the steak and sear until browned, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- Add the remaining oil to the skillet. Sauté garlic, ginger, onions, and bell peppers until slightly tender, about 3-4 minutes.
- Return the beef to the skillet. Pour in the sauce mixture and stir to coat everything evenly.
- Cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot over rice.
Notes
- Slice the beef thinly against the grain for more tenderness.
- Feel free to add other vegetables like broccoli or snap peas.
- Use low-sodium soy sauce to control salt levels.
