Description

A quick and flavorful Pepper Steak Stir Fry made with tender beef strips, colorful bell peppers, and a savory stir-fry sauce. Perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooked rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss the sliced steak with soy sauce, cornstarch, and a pinch of pepper. Let marinate for 10-15 minutes.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and water. Set aside.
  3. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  4. Add the steak and sear until browned, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  5. Add the remaining oil to the skillet. Sauté garlic, ginger, onions, and bell peppers until slightly tender, about 3-4 minutes.
  6. Return the beef to the skillet. Pour in the sauce mixture and stir to coat everything evenly.
  7. Cook for another 2-3 minutes, or until the sauce thickens slightly.
  8. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot over rice.

Notes

  • Slice the beef thinly against the grain for more tenderness.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables like broccoli or snap peas.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce to control salt levels.
