Description

A nostalgic breakfast mash-up of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with the warm, custardy richness of classic French toast. Perfect for brunch or a weekend treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 slices thick-sliced bread (like brioche or Texas toast)
  • 2 tbsp peanut butter
  • 2 tbsp jelly or jam (any flavor)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tbsp butter (for cooking)
  • Powdered sugar or syrup (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Spread peanut butter on one slice of bread and jelly on another, then sandwich them together.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Dip the PB&J sandwich into the egg mixture, coating both sides well.
  4. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt a bit of butter.
  5. Cook the sandwich for 2–3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Remove from skillet and let cool slightly before slicing.
  7. Serve warm, optionally topped with powdered sugar, syrup, or extra jelly.

Notes

  • Use almond or cashew butter for a nutty twist.
  • Try different jams like strawberry, raspberry, or apricot.
  • Add banana slices inside the sandwich for extra flavor.
  • Sprinkle with crushed peanuts for crunch.
  • Make it dairy-free using plant-based milk and vegan butter.
