Description

This Peach Crisp is a warm, comforting dessert featuring juicy peaches topped with a buttery oat crumble. Quick to prepare and best served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, it’s a perfect treat during peach season.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups fresh or frozen sliced peaches
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch or all-purpose flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup cold salted butter, diced
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease an 8×8-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, toss sliced peaches with granulated sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch (or flour), and a pinch of salt. Transfer to the prepared dish.
  3. In another bowl, mix oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg if using.
  4. Cut in the cold butter with a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the peaches.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with vanilla ice cream, if desired.

Notes

  • Add chopped pecans or walnuts to the topping for extra crunch.
  • Use nectarines or mixed summer fruits instead of peaches.
  • Add a splash of vanilla extract to the filling for extra flavor.
  • Make it gluten-free with certified gluten-free oats and flour.
