Description

Warm, cheesy, and hearty, these oven baked meatball sandwiches combine tender meatballs with marinara and melted cheese in toasted sub rolls for the ultimate comfort food.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 sub sandwich rolls
  • 1216 meatballs (34 per sandwich)
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded parmesan cheese
  • 4 tbsp garlic butter
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking dish with foil or parchment paper.
  2. Slice the sub rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through.
  3. Spread garlic butter inside each roll and toast them in the oven for about 5 minutes until slightly crisp.
  4. Warm the meatballs and marinara sauce together in a pan until heated through.
  5. Spoon 3–4 meatballs into each toasted roll and top with marinara sauce.
  6. Sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan cheese over the meatballs.
  7. Place the sandwiches in the baking dish and bake uncovered for 10–12 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with Italian seasoning and parsley if desired, and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use spicy Italian sausage meatballs for extra heat.
  • Swap marinara for Alfredo sauce for a creamy variation.
  • Add sautéed bell peppers and onions for more flavor.
  • Try provolone or cheddar instead of mozzarella.
  • Use dinner rolls for mini slider versions.
