Ingredients
-
1 lb ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
-
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
-
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
-
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (or 1 tbsp dried)
-
1 egg
-
2 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 tsp salt
-
1/2 tsp black pepper
-
1 tsp Italian seasoning
-
1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
-
4-6 hoagie or sub rolls
-
1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
-
2 tbsp olive oil (for baking sheet)
Instructions
-
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and brush it with olive oil.
-
In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, parsley, egg, garlic, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning until just combined.
-
Roll into 1.5-inch meatballs and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
-
Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until browned and cooked through.
-
While meatballs are baking, warm the marinara sauce in a saucepan over low heat.
-
Once meatballs are done, add them to the marinara sauce and stir to coat.
-
Slice the hoagie rolls and place them on a baking sheet. Fill each roll with meatballs and spoon extra sauce on top.
-
Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the meatballs in each sandwich.
-
Bake the assembled sandwiches at 375°F (190°C) for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
-
Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
-
Use store-bought frozen meatballs to save time—just heat them in the marinara sauce before assembling the sandwiches.
-
Add banana peppers or sliced red onions for extra flavor.
-
Toast the rolls lightly before filling if you like a crispier texture.
