Description

A savory and satisfying Onion Beef Fried Rice recipe featuring tender beef strips, caramelized onions, and perfectly seasoned rice. Ideal for a quick and flavorful weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 cups cooked rice (preferably day-old)
  • 1/2 lb beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 green onions, chopped (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the beef slices and cook until browned and just cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add the remaining oil and sauté the garlic and onions until the onions are soft and slightly caramelized.
  4. Push the onions to one side and pour in the beaten eggs. Scramble them until just set.
  5. Add the cooked rice to the pan and stir-fry to combine with the eggs and onions.
  6. Return the beef to the pan and pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly.
  7. Stir-fry everything for another 2-3 minutes until heated through and well combined.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions if desired and serve hot.

Notes

  • Use cold, day-old rice for best texture.
  • Marinate beef in a little soy sauce and cornstarch for extra tenderness.
  • You can add vegetables like peas, carrots, or bell peppers for variation.
