Description

This One Pot Spaghetti is a quick and easy dinner that’s perfect for busy weeknights. Everything – pasta, sauce, and all – cooks together in one pot, soaking up tons of flavor and saving you time on cleanup. It’s hearty, comforting, and sure to be a hit with the whole family.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 pound ground beef (or Italian sausage)

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

  • 1 (24-ounce) jar marinara sauce

  • 3 cups water or beef broth

  • 12 ounces spaghetti (uncooked)

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.

  2. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  3. Add ground beef, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Cook until the beef is browned, breaking it up as it cooks.

  4. Pour in the marinara sauce and water or broth. Stir to combine.

  5. Break the spaghetti in half and add it to the pot. Gently stir to submerge the noodles.

  6. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer. Cover and cook for about 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking, until the pasta is tender and the sauce is slightly thickened.

  7. Remove from heat and stir in Parmesan cheese, if using.

  8. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil or parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Swap ground beef for ground turkey or plant-based meat for a lighter version.

  • Add chopped veggies like bell peppers or mushrooms for extra nutrition.

  • Use whole wheat pasta for added fiber.
