Description

Soft, buttery, and garlicky breadsticks just like the ones served at Olive Garden. Perfect as a side for soups, salads, or Italian dishes.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (110°F)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons salt
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (for brushing)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add softened butter, salt, and flour. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a breadstick shape.
  6. Place the breadsticks on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  8. Bake the breadsticks for 12–14 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Immediately brush the hot breadsticks with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder and salt.
  10. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • You can double the garlic powder for a stronger flavor.
  • These are best enjoyed fresh but can be reheated in the oven.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
