These Mexican Ground Beef Lettuce Wraps are a low-carb, flavorful twist on traditional tacos, made with seasoned beef and fresh toppings wrapped in crisp lettuce leaves.

- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 1 head of romaine or butter lettuce, leaves separated
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1/4 cup sour cream (optional)
- 1/2 avocado, diced (optional)
- 1 lime, cut into wedges
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened.
- Add garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes.
- Drain excess fat if necessary, then stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
- Add tomato sauce and stir to combine. Simmer for 5 minutes until heated through.
- Prepare lettuce leaves by washing and drying them thoroughly.
- Spoon the seasoned beef mixture into each lettuce leaf.
- Top with diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, cilantro, avocado, and sour cream as desired.
- Serve with lime wedges on the side.
Notes
- Use iceberg or butter lettuce for a sturdier wrap option.
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner version.
- Adjust spices to your taste for more or less heat.
- Serve with a side of salsa or guacamole for extra flavor.
