Description

These Maraschino Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookies are soft, chewy, and packed with sweet cherry flavor and melty chocolate chips. Perfect for Valentine’s Day, holidays, or anytime you’re craving a fun twist on a classic cookie. They’re easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1 cup maraschino cherries, drained and chopped

  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • Optional: 1-2 tbsp maraschino cherry juice (for added cherry flavor)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until combined.

  6. Fold in the chopped maraschino cherries and chocolate chips. If desired, add 1–2 tablespoons of cherry juice for more flavor and color.

  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets.

  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.

  9. Let cool on the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Make sure cherries are well-drained and patted dry to avoid excess moisture in the dough.

  • White chocolate chips or dark chocolate chunks are great substitutes.

  • These cookies freeze well – store in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
