- 1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 green onions, sliced
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
- Toss the sliced beef with cornstarch until evenly coated.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add the beef in batches and cook until browned and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using), and sauté for 30 seconds.
- Add maple syrup, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and water. Stir and bring to a simmer.
- Return the beef to the pan and toss to coat in the sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
- Serve hot with rice or noodles.
Notes
- Flank steak or sirloin works best for this dish.
- Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to your preferred spice level.
- Can be made ahead and reheated for meal prep.
