Description

Soft, fluffy cinnamon rolls filled with a sweet cinnamon-sugar swirl and topped with a luscious maple glaze. Perfect for cozy breakfasts and brunches.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour (approx., divided)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for dough)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (for filling)
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (for glaze) — Note: Mentioned in directions but not clearly listed in ingredients section
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, warm the milk until lukewarm (not hot).
  2. In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, granulated sugar, salt, and yeast.
  3. Add the warm milk, softened butter, and eggs. Mix until combined, then gradually add the remaining flour until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Punch down the dough and roll it into a large rectangle.
  7. Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
  8. Roll up tightly from the long edge and cut into even rolls.
  9. Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise again for 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. While baking, whisk together powdered sugar, maple syrup, melted butter, and vanilla extract for the glaze.
  12. Drizzle the warm rolls generously with maple glaze before serving.

Notes

  • Add chopped pecans or walnuts to the filling for extra crunch.
  • Try a cream cheese glaze for a tangy variation.
  • Sprinkle raisins inside the filling for added sweetness.
  • Freeze unglazed rolls for up to 2 months, thaw, and glaze before serving.
