Ingredients

  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Mix until combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  5. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  6. Fold in chopped nuts if using.
  7. Scoop dough into balls and place on the baking sheet.
  8. Flatten slightly with your hand or a glass.
  9. Bake for 8–10 minutes, until edges are set and centers are soft.
  10. Cool on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
