Description
Laccha Pyaz is a classic Indian salad made from thinly sliced onions, spices, and lemon juice. It’s a tangy, crunchy accompaniment often served with North Indian meals.
Ingredients
- 2 large red onions, thinly sliced
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon chaat masala
- 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder
- Salt to taste
- Fresh coriander leaves, chopped (for garnish)
- Cold water (for soaking)
Instructions
- Peel and thinly slice the onions into rings.
- Soak the sliced onions in cold water for 10–15 minutes to reduce the pungency.
- Drain the onions and gently squeeze to remove excess water.
- Place the onions in a bowl and add lemon juice, chaat masala, red chili powder, and salt.
- Toss well to evenly coat the onions with the spices.
- Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve immediately.
Notes
- Use red onions for best flavor and appearance.
- Soaking in cold water helps mellow the sharp taste of raw onions.
- Can be prepared just before serving for maximum crunch.
