Description
Kool Aid Pickles, also known as “Koolickles,” are a fun, tangy, and sweet Southern snack made by soaking dill pickles in a Kool-Aid and sugar mixture. The result is a brightly colored, sweet-and-sour treat that’s perfect for parties, kids, or anyone wanting a funky flavor twist. They’re easy to make with just a few ingredients and a bit of patience!
Ingredients
-
1 (32 oz) jar dill pickles (whole or spears)
-
1 packet Kool-Aid (any flavor – cherry, fruit punch, or tropical punch are popular)
-
1 cup granulated sugar
-
Optional: extra Kool-Aid for a stronger flavor
Instructions
-
Drain the pickle juice from the jar into a large mixing bowl.
-
Add the Kool-Aid packet and sugar to the pickle juice. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved.
-
Place the pickles back in the jar (or use a separate container with a tight-fitting lid).
-
Pour the sweetened Kool-Aid mixture over the pickles, ensuring they’re fully submerged.
-
Seal the jar and refrigerate for 5–7 days, shaking gently once a day to mix the liquid.
-
Once the pickles are fully infused and brightly colored, they’re ready to eat
Notes
-
The longer they sit, the more flavorful they get.
-
Try different Kool-Aid flavors for variety—grape and blue raspberry are fun choices.
-
For a spicier version, add red pepper flakes or sliced jalapeños to the jar.
