Description

A refreshing and vibrant layered drink that combines homemade strawberry purée, creamy milk, and earthy matcha for a delightful summer beverage.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries
  • 12 tablespoons granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 3/4 cup milk (dairy or plant-based like oat or almond milk)
  • 1 teaspoon matcha powder
  • 2 tablespoons hot water
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Combine strawberries and sugar in a blender. Blend until smooth to create a purée.
  2. Optional: Strain the purée to remove seeds.
  3. In a serving glass, add 2-3 tablespoons of the strawberry purée.
  4. Fill the glass halfway with ice, then pour in your milk of choice until the glass is about three-quarters full.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk matcha powder with hot water until smooth and frothy.
  6. Slowly pour the matcha over the back of a spoon into the glass to form a layered effect.
  7. Stir gently before drinking if preferred.

Notes

  • Use coconut milk for a tropical flavor variation.
  • Add a dash of vanilla extract to the purée for extra depth.
  • Try other berries like raspberries or blueberries for variety.
  • Sweeten the matcha with honey or agave if desired.
  • Store leftover strawberry purée in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Prepare matcha fresh for each serving to maintain texture and flavor.
